In 2026, Anda&Fala – Cultural Association will begin celebrating its 15 years of activity (2011–2026), reaffirming its commitment to contemporary creation and strengthening the Azorean cultural ecosystem. Throughout this journey, the association has invested in artistic production, supporting artists, and creating platforms for local and international contexts to come together.
The 2026 program includes three exhibition seasons at vaga, the association’s headquarters and cultural space in Ponta Delgada; the 2nd edition of Open Studios – São Miguel; Feira Gráfica #6; residency and creative support programs; and the start of preparations for the next edition of the Walk&Talk Biennial, scheduled for the last quarter of 2027. Part of the program is part of the official calendar of PDL26 – Portuguese Capital of Culture.
The February–April season opened with Actos de Língua, a video installation by Carlos M. Oliveira and James Newitt, on display until April 24, Thursday through Saturday, from noon to 6 p.m., at espaço vaga, in Ponta Delgada. With the support of PDL26, the May–August season opens on May 22 with Moving Ecologies, a collective exhibition curated by the vaga team. The September–November season presents the winning projects of the nova vaga 2026 Award — André Carreiro Oliveira (Faial), Atelineiras (São Miguel), and Tomás Toste (Terceira) — supported with grants of €5,000 each. Curated by João Francisco Reis, this season reinforces the ongoing investment in Azorean artists and artistic research.
From July 10 to 18, the 2nd edition of Open Studios – São Miguel will take place, a biennial circuit that opens artists’ studios and independent spaces on the island to the public, with exhibitions, workshops, and talks. The initiative is part of the PDL26 program and contributes to increasing the visibility of contemporary creation in the territory.
As part of support for creativity, March will see the launch of the project 9 Islands in a Mural, winner of the Azores Participatory Budget, which will consist of a public art intervention in Ponta Delgada and will engage young artists from the region. In November, the 9th edition of PARES – Support Program for Artistic Activity in the Azores will open, awarding grants between €250 and €700 for creation, training, and circulation. The association also maintains artistic support programs such as RARA – Residência de Artesanato da Região dos Açores or the 2026 nova vaga Award, as well as hosting residencies under Culture Moves Europe.
The program ends on December 12 with Feira Gráfica #6, an annual meeting at vaga dedicated to independent publishing, design, and illustration, bringing together more than 20 participants.
