Anda&Fala
anda-fala

Anda&Fala is a cultural association that promotes the creation, presentation, and circulation of knowledge, projects, and people within the expanded field of visual arts. Through resource sharing, skill development, and the building of networks of connection and experience, the association fosters cooperation and artistic exchange. Operating from the Azores Archipelago, it seeks to establish alternative centers for contemporary creation, focusing on autonomous practices rooted in transregional cooperation.

Founded in 2011 alongside the first edition of Walk&Talk, the project at its origin, Anda&Fala focuses on promoting artistic creation and presentation, as well as developing cultural audiences. In 2020, Anda&Fala established its headquarters at vaga – art and knowledge space in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island.

Anchored by vaga and Walk&Talk Biennial, Anda&Fala’s work extends into various programs that foster networks of cooperation and connection, such as the Public Program, PARES – Artistic Activity Support Program in the Azores, nova vaga Prize, RARA – Craftwork Residency of the Azores Region, Laranjeiras em Flor, Transmalhar, Open Studios São Miguel, the Artist Residency Program, and the hosting of artists and researchers, alongside cultural advocacy initiatives.

Since 2016, Anda&Fala has been recognized as a Public Utility Entity by the Government of the Azores. In the 2023/2026 period, its activities are supported by the Portuguese Republic – Culture / Directorate-General for the Arts, the Government of the Azores, and the Municipality of Ponta Delgada, collaborating with several partners. The association is a founding member of MOVA – Movement for Art and Culture in the Azores, is part of the Azores Pride Organizing Committee, and participates in the Periferias Centrais reflection and working group.

Anda&Fala’s projects are collectively programmed by artists, curators, and teams involved in the organization, aimed at reflecting on the creation, experience, and sustainability of contemporary artistic practices. It has a permanent team of 10 full-time members, complemented by others who collaborate occasionally or on a project basis.
