Transmalhar is the act of wandering through the territory, aware of the self-body-space relationship, in order to generate new relationships with the local community and the natural, material, and immaterial heritage. As a word, it derives from the combination of the Portuguese word ‘tresmalhar’ (to lose one’s way) and ‘transdisciplinary’.

It is an art education pilot project that explored art as a civic act on the island of São Miguel to understand the relationship humans establish with the territory they inhabit in their daily lives. Coordinated by Rita Serra e Silva (architecture), and created in collaboration with Helena Oliveira (dance) and Joana Amen (psychology).
