Born in Lisbon. Graduated in Design by the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon and Master in Industrial Design at Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. Filipe Alarcão teaches design at ESAD.CR in Caldas da Rainha.
Recipient of the National Design Prize promoted by the Portuguese Design Centre, he worked in Milan with Michele De Lucchi, between 1995 and 1997, before opening his own practice studio in Lisbon, developing design products with several companies, such as Vista Alegre, Amorim Cork, Temahome, Iduna, Molde Ceramics,
among others. The scope of his work is also extended to fields such as interior design, museum and exhibition design, as well as spatial installations in art galleries.
His work is represented in both private and public design collections and the Lisbon design museum MUDE. Museu do Design e da Moda – Colecção Francisco Capelo, held a personal show of his work in 2011/12.
