This series intends to portray the youth of S. Miguel in the Azores. This type of approach goes against what I have been developing in recent years - "Youth of Athens" (2012), "The Passenger" (2014), "The Behavior of Being" (2015), "That Stone" ). I am interested in the insular question, trying to understand how youngsters move, what kind of groups exist, the kind of openness and freedom they have and how it manifests itself. I am also interested in genuineness and transgression. This work intends to be an intimate portrait of young people in their social and landscape contexts.

Based on Freudian thinking about acceptance and intolerance ("The Narcissism of Small Differences"), the artist shares a view that comes from a daily coexistence, but escapes documentary action and an idea of stereotype. Carefully, revealing without being intrusive, or inquiring without being judgmental, there is an insight into a daily life that is at once strange and natural.
The strangeness and distance it creates, arise from the way the weight of culture, habits and traditions contrast with the nature of the young people who are portrayed. The naturalness and the proximity to which it incites, come from the familiarity that the artist had, in a period of sharing and attention. Between these two points, her work questions the notion of identity and gender, reviewing curiosity and consideration for the other.
