Histórias de Angola draws on orality to reflect on the uses, customs and traditions that identify Angola. By sharing rituals and experiences — from birth to death, including the cult of the dead, marriage, motherhood, ways of life, gastronomy and architecture — Maria Cristina Borges draws an intimate and plural portrait of her country of origin. The performance also addresses the impacts of colonization and the fusion between African and Western cultures, revealing layers of identity, memory and belonging.
