Readings are Portals+info
31 may, 19h
Reading by the sea takes us to the Afrofuturist mythology of Drexciya, an imagined and insurgent underwater world inhabited by the descendants of pregnant black women thrown into the ocean from so-called slave ships. These beings born from the womb of pain and resistance of enslaved bodies will listen to our readings.

This activity proposes collective breathing through the word, while also presenting itself as an invitation to listen and cross over, with two encounters by the sea. The first is where participants bring their books and read them aloud. A second, where we invite the rest of the community to attend a collective performance of readings, in a ritual of memory and reconnection with this Afro-Atlantic civilization. There, the word will sail with the tide, the books will become portals for imagining other ancestral stories and other futures, in communion with those who resisted the abyss and created new worlds under the waters.
