Carlos Carreiro (Ponta Delgada, 1946) celebrated the 50th anniversary of his career in 2023. His painting explores an imaginary where fantasy, humor and commentary prevail in a play of light and concepts. He was a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto and has received several awards. He has taken part in more than 300 group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, such as Arco 98, Madrid and Art Cologne 01. He held the solo exhibition Maintenance gymnastics with twenty playful exercises at Galeria Serpente in Porto. In 2024, he took part in the exhibition Pre/Post - Visual Declinations of the 25th of April at the Serralves Museum and in the exhibition CAC - 50 anos: A Democratização Vivida, at the Soares dos Reis National Museum. He was the artist honored at the Gaia International Biennial, where an anthological exhibition of his work was held, and he is present in numerous private collections and many official bodies in the Azores.
