Carlos M. Oliveira (1980, Santarém) works as an artist in contemporary dance, choreography, and performance. After a period dedicated to critiquing the relationship between choreography and dance, he was a researcher at universities in Europe and the US, obtaining his PhD in 2016 from the UT Austin | Portugal Program with a study on the mode of existence of choreographic objects. Since 2017, he has been producing, creating, and presenting his artistic and curatorial work, without abandoning the same issues. He was national coordinator of the theater sector at INATEL (2005), artistic director of “Novo Circo do Ribatejo” (2004-2007), Adjunct Professor of Media Studies at the Higher Institute of Advanced Technologies in Lisbon (2015-2016) and Adjunct Professor of Body and Movement at the Higher School of Theater and Cinema of the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (2019-2020). He is a founding member of the Cotão (2006) and Apneia Colectiva (2019) associations and was an associate artist of the Parasita Association (2019-2025).
