Catarina Gonçalves was born in 1999, on the island of São Miguel (Azores). She has a degree in Sound and Image from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and is currently studying Documentary Cinema at the DOC NOMADS Erasmus Mundus Masters Course, where she will have classes in Lisbon, Budapest, and Brussels. Her first documentary short film, Mãos de Prata, won: third prize at the Student Sophia Awards, first prize at Concordia Film Festival (Montreal), and was selected for the Vila do Conde Short Film Festival, Festival de Cine y Audiovisuales EQUINOXIO (Colombia), Porto Post Doc, Festival Caminhos do Cinema Português, Porto Femme Film Festival, Sophia Awards in the student film category and Shortcutz Ovar and Aveiro.
