Diogo Alvim (1979, Lisbon) works at the intersection of music and sound art, exploring their interactions with architecture and specific contexts. He is interested in expanding the practice of sound composition as a device for research and transformation.
He graduated in architecture and composition in Lisbon, and in 2016, he completed a PhD in composition and sound arts at the Sonic Arts Research Center at Queen's University Belfast. His research explored different relationships between music and architecture. He teaches sound arts in the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Sound and Image at ESAD (Caldas da Rainha) and is a researcher at CESEM, FCSH – NOVA. He regularly collaborates with visual artists, choreographers, and directors on productions ranging from installations and video to dance, performative journeys, and other crossovers.
