Joana Albuquerque (Ponta Delgada, 1993) is a visual artist. In her work with sculpture, objects and performance, she critiques and humorously analyzes everyday social practices, everyday objects and slang, dialoguing with their immediate context.
Has exhibited regularly and was the winner of the Jubiläums-Stipendien-Stiftung 2024 in the city of Munich, the Nova Vaga Award 2024 from Associação Anda&Fala and the Tereza Seabra Award 2023 from Associação PIN.
Has a Master's degree in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, studied at the Pontifícia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and completed the Contemporary Jewelry course at Ar.Co - Centro de Arte e Comunicação, in Lisbon.
Is currently studying sculpture at the Klasse Prof. Gabriel Kuri at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München.
Lives and works between Ponta Delgada and Munich.
