Victor Hugo Pontes was born in Guimarães in 1978. He has a Plastic Arts - Painting degree from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. In 2001, he attended the Norwich School of Art & Design in England. He concluded professional theater courses at Balleteatro Escola Profissional and Teatro Universitário do Porto, and the Research and Choreographic Creation course at Fórum Dança. In 2004, he took the Theatre Staging course at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, directed by the English company Third Angel, and, in 2006, the Projet Thierry Salmon - La Nouvelle École des Maîtres course, led by Pippo Delbono, in Belgium and Italy.
As a creator, his career began to blossom in 2003 with the work Puzzle. Since then, he has been consolidating his choreographic mark, having presented his work all over the country and in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Austria, and Brazil, among others.
He has been, since 2009, the Artistic Director of Nome Próprio - Associação Cultural.
