Violaine Lochu's work is based on the exploration of the voice as a vector of encounter and metamorphosis. During long periods of immersion in specific environments, the artist collects different sound and visual materials from which she creates performances, sound installations, videos, and editions. With a transdisciplinary practice, she transits between visual and performing arts, music, theater, and sound poetry, creating bridges between the contemporary and ancient, academic and popular universes. Lochu feeds on encounters with human or non-human entities, literary or aesthetic universes, and readings of works belonging to the field of human sciences (anthropology, sociology, psychoanalysis). Encounters and collaboration - with other musicians, choreographers, circus artists, visual artists, graphic designers, and researchers in the human sciences, are at the core of her approach.
