Students from RISD — Rhode Island School of Design (USA) have been exploring the ecology of the island of São Miguel through residencies in 2022 and 2024. Working at the intersection of design, science, and society with materials, artisans, and local entities, they design with and for nature, conceiving studies for a Butterfly Pavilion for BioKairos, an organic farm and environmental education center.
