— The mural is scheduled to be created in September at EBI Canto da Maia

Anda&Fala invites you to vote for one of the five finalist proposals for the design and creation of an artistic mural (approx. 64 m²) at EBI Canto da Maia in Ponta Delgada. The contest is part of the Azores Participatory Budget: Project 21/OP22, which, through an open call, selected and invited five Azorean artists or residents to submit original visual proposals for the mural under the theme Archipelago of Abundance.

PROPOSAL 1
— Technique: direct painting on wall with acrylic paints
This proposal depicts the nine islands of the Azores through nine children, each inspired by the identity, culture, and traditions of their respective islands. The mural celebrates the archipelago’s diversity, creativity, and community spirit.

PROPOSAL 2
— Technique: painting on ceramic tiles
Inspired by the colors of the Azores and the phenomenon of the rainbow, the mural depicts the nine islands as interconnected points of light. The proposal explores the relationship between nature, territory, identity, and collective imagination.

PROPOSAL 3
— Technique: spray paint
The proposal brings together emblematic elements of the Azores—such as lagoons, waterfalls, hydrangeas, clouds, and the sea—through a visual language inspired by cartoons and youth culture. The mural celebrates both the most cherished and the most unpredictable aspects of life on the islands.

PROPOSAL 4
— Technique: painting on ceramic tiles
The mural depicts nine children, representing the nine islands, in a moment of togetherness, play, and friendship. The proposal highlights the importance of community, sharing, and human relationships in school and public spaces.

PROPOSAL 5
— Technique: painting with roller and brush
The proposal depicts characters inspired by the Azorean islands in constant dialogue and exchange with one another. Through cultural symbols and the exchange of letters and messages, the mural explores ideas of closeness, communication, and connection between the islands.
