Sofia Mestre was born in Lisbon. Since her childhood, she has developed an interest for diversified melodies, harmonies and rhythms. At her personal and professional life, the universe of sounds, music, colour and images has been present constantly. The parallelism between sound and image gains greater expression in her obsession by patterns and textures. When she joined the collective Fungo, she embraces even more this dichotomy.
Her musical theme "Birdwatching" integrated the first volume of a compilation edited by Labareda in 2016, entirely focused on the feminine. She uses homemade machinery, built from scratch by HOBO and tuned for improvised excursions, in which notions of rhythm and melody are continuously blurred into harmonic and textural flow, that is largely sensorial and with no definite point of arrival. She likes to be driven by the machinery and the stimuli that they give her.
