Manuela Marques was born in Portugal. She lives and works in Paris.She is represented by Galeria Fonseca-Macedo in Azores, Galerie Anne Barrault in Paris, Caroline Pagès in Lisbon and Vermelho in São Paulo.Her photographic and moving-image works have been shown regularly in various institutions both in France and internationally. She has recently had solo exhibitions at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon and Le Cellier, Reims, France (2017); the Museum of Aurillac, France and the Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra, Portugal (2016); at the Château d’Eau, Toulouse, France; the Centre Régional de la Photographie du Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France and the Calouse Gulbenkian Foundation, Paris (2014). In 2011, following an exhibition combining photography and video installation at the Berardo Collection Museum in Lisbon, she received the BESPhoto Prize 2011. In the same year her work was shown at the Estação Pinacoteca in São Paulo. More exhibitions and residences are in preparation for 2019 at the Museum of Lodève (France), Museum of La-Roche-sur-Yon (France), Centro de Artes Contemporâneas Arquipélago (Azores, Portugal), and the Centre d'Art - Domaine de Kerguéhennec (France).A new monographic publication is also being prepared (Ed.
