Miguel Mesquita (Coimbra 1990) has a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Coimbra and a Masters in Curatorial Studies from the same institution. In 2013 he was a Young Researcher at the University of Coimbra’s Centre for Social Studies, focusing on multidisciplinary projects on architecture, art and sociology. He began his career at the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art as a curatorial assistant to the Deputy Curator João Ribas, having collaborated on several exhibitions such as “Can the museum be a garden?” (2015), “Under the clouds, from Paranoia to the Digital Sublime” (2015), “Salomé Lamas: Parafiction”(2015) and “Helena Almeida: My Work is My Body, My Body is My Work” (2015 - 2017). Between 2015 and 2018 he served as Artistic Director at Baginski Gallery in Lisbon. He has curated, among others, the exhibitions “Containment, Dispersion” (2016), the last solo show of Arthur Luiz Piza during his lifetime; the group shows “Force, Strengh, Power” (2017) and “Shiu! The silence dialogue” (2019); and “Water, Wine and Flower Wreaths” (2019) with works from António Neves Nobre and Igor Jesus. Since 2018 he has served as a cultural consultant of ARCOlisboa’s Parallel Program. He has acted as moderator on several conferences on art and architecture. He regularly writes for Contemporânea magazine as well as for catalogues and other publications on Art.
