Carla Lima's proposal selected for 9 Ilhas num Mural contest
MINUTES FOR THE CONTEST HERE

Anda&Fala announces Carla Lima as the artist selected by the contest 9 Ilhas num Mural, an initiative inviting Azorean artists to create a large-scale mural for EBI Canto da Maia, in Ponta Delgada.

The contest took place in two stages. An initial open call led to the selection of five artists, who were invited to develop original proposals inspired by the concept of abundance and the representation of the nine islands of the archipelago. The shortlisted proposals were then evaluated by a Jury Committee (Alexandre Pascoal, Director of Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, Florbela Saudade, Conselho Executivo da EBI Canto da Maia, José Amorim, Architect, Reina del Mar, Curator and Artist) while also being presented to the public through an open voting process.

The final result combined the Jury's evaluation (60%) and the public vote (40%), in accordance with the competition regulations.

Proposal 1, by Carla Lima, achieved the highest overall score and was selected for its artistic and conceptual quality, its suitability for the school environment, and the overall strength of its technical proposal.

Anda&Fala would like to thank all participating artists, the members of the Selection Committee, the school community of Escola Básica Integrada Canto da Maia, and everyone who took part in the public vote for contributing to a collaborative selection process.

The project will now move into the production phase, with the winning proposal set to become the new mural at the school later in the summer.

— The contest was based on a proposal selected by the Azores Participatory Budget: Project 21/OP22.
