PONTOatelier is an architecture studio based in Funchal, led by young architects Ana P Ferreira, Pedro M Ribeiro and José Gustavo Freitas.
Its practice is developed in critical thinking and research, operating at different scales.
They are interested in materializing their ideas in the most diverse forms in an expanded field between art and construction.
They were one of the five national studios, invited to participate in the curatorial competition for “La Biennale di architectura di Veneza” 2020.
In 2019 they were part of the National Selection Committee of the XI Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism.
In 2018, they won an honorable mention for the Competition ”Center for Children”, Funchal promoted by OASRS.
They were published in the book “Architecture is just a pretext”, edited by Carnets, Venice, 2019.
In 2017, they won the private contest for the “Farm Cultural Park” in Sicily, for the remodeling of a facade that they called “gabbia”. That same year were invited assistants to the workshops, WAVe Syria - The making of the future, promoted by IUAVE in Venice and invited teacher´s in the Summer Workshop Moytirra - Sketch design deep-sea mining labor´s housing, promoted by ISCTE in Ponta Delgada, Azores.
In 2016, they won the international competition “Two houses for the Selvagens islands” promoted by OASRS.
More recently, they designed scenography stage for the ManoaMano jazz concert at the Baltazar Dias theater, Funchal and CCB Lisbon.
