Anda&Fala awards three groups of young people in Illustration Contest - Drawing for Democracy 2024
At the end of March, Anda&Fala - Associação Cultural promoted the Illustration Competition – Drawing for Democracy 2024 for young people living on São Miguel Island between the ages of 14 and 25 as part of the Transmalhar art education project. After evaluating the applications, three groups of young people from the Água de Pau Integrated Primary School were selected and awarded a screen printing workshop.
25 (Ana Rebelo and Letícia Raposo), Livres (Manuel Sousa and Letícia Raposo), and Plantamos Liberdade (Bruno Raposo and Matias Rebelo) were the three groups made up of students from the Água de Pau Integrated Primary School, selected and awarded in the competition. In assessing the applications, the Evaluation Committee made up of Lívia Diniz (artistic director of the March), two representatives of Anda&Fala - Associação Cultural and Oficinas de São Miguel took into account the suitability of the proposed theme (Democracy), the artistic merit and the feasibility of executing the project in silkscreen printing.
The selected works/illustrations answer the questions from an artistic and personal point of view: What does Democracy mean to you? What is Democracy for? What future do you want for Democracy? and are aimed at producing T-shirts that will be part of the Assembly in Movement – Transmalhar for Democracy, a performance act that aims to celebrate 50 years of Democracy in Portugal, in the city of Ponta Delgada, on April 25.
The selected groups of young people were awarded a screen printing workshop to be held this Wednesday, April 3, at Oficinas de São Miguel, a space for artistic research and creation that promotes dialog between different arts and crafts, located in São Vicente Ferreira, Capelas.
