Curatorship: one thing next to another is not two things+info
29 oct ➔ 10h00-17h00
Curatorship is a practice that has been occupying an important space in artistic discourses. Its historical roots can be traced back to the emergence of the museum at the end of the 18th century, an institution to which it is closely linked, but the development of artistic practices since the end of the 19th century has given it an important role in artistic mediation.
The aim of this session is to provide an overview of the issues that curatorship has been facing, its relationship with Art History, criticism, aesthetics, and the political determinants of its exercise. Concrete examples and case studies will be provided to frame the practice of curatorship in its various aspects: exhibition, editorial, in the treatment and conception of programs and collections.
