Rodrigo Vaiapraia is a transdisciplinary self-taught artist born in Setúbal. Started composing and playing songs live in 2013. The following year, he edits an solo EP as Vaiapraia on Experimentáculo Records. Between 2014 and 2018 his music becomes a love exercise shared in trio, with the format "Vaiapraia and The Queens of Dance" (Shelley Barradas, Helena Fagundes, Lucía Vives and Ana Farinha). In trio, he edits the debut LP "1755" (Spring Toast Records, 2016), a direct and assumed heir to the punk riot grrrl and queercore movements acclaimed by publications such as Público, Blitz or Time Out. The fanzine that accompanies the album, complementing it with visual and written experiences, deserves a review of the American magazine Maximum RocknRoll. Being present in festivals like Super Bock Super Rock or Millions of Feasts, as well as bars, demonstrations and self-managed spaces, such as Lux Fragile, ZDB and Maus Habits or even galleries and museums (MNAC, CAAC of Seville), the live performances are not just an opportunity to show the songs: they are also a time to create community, whatever the geography or situation is. With the same message, Vaiapraia is one of the founders of the agency/ promoter/ producer Maternity and Rama em Flor (queer feminist community festival). He collaborates punctually with Platform 285 as a performer and writes for cinema with director Tomás Paula Marques.
