Krot & Krass consists of Björn Loki and Elsa Jónsdóttir. Their work explores language: typography, words, and allusions. They reflect on reading in a broader sense and analyze the ability to share complex ideas and experiences through marks on a surface. Krot & Krass emphasize changing their surroundings, and their work is widely seen in the public space. In recent years they have cast their ideas into sculptures and reliefs.
The duo runs a 1200 m² studio in Reykjavík called Fúsk. They also co-own Skiltamálun Reykjavíkur, which specializes in installing grand-scale murals for artists. Krot & Krass have taught at the Iceland Academy of the Arts, Flateyri Folk School, and the Breiðholt Collage. They’ve organized art and music festivals such as Rusl Fest, Buxur, Happy Festival, and Gambri, Berlin.
