Maçarokos is a DJ duo formed by brothers Cristóvão (23) and Lourenço Maçarico (16), with the aim of bringing unusual sounds to São Miguel Island, such as Lisbon's batida, jungle, drum and bass, and breakbeat. Inspired by the underground rave and jungle scene of the early 90s in the UK, Maçarokos' sound is marked by fragmented rhythms and marked, modulated bass. With Lourenço focusing on the beats and Cristóvão on the melodies, the brothers create a balanced and vibrant fusion in their sets.
