Ana Margarida de Sousa Silva Carvalho was born in Funchal, Madeira Island, in 1969, and has lived on São Miguel Island since 1994. Coming from a family with a sensitivity to the arts, she showed an early interest and talent for drawing, a passion that lay dormant for several years due to personal life choices. After her children grew up, and with more free time, she rekindled her love for painting, focusing mainly on watercolor, which she is currently studying under the guidance of master Ari de Goes. She began joining other urban sketchers, often drawing outdoors around the island and in places she visits. She has occasionally collaborated on book illustrations and is the co-author of two children's books, for which she completed all the illustrations.
