Urbano Resendes was born in 1959 on the island of São Miguel, Azores. He studied engraving at the Slade School of Fine Art, in London, with Bartolomeu Cid dos Santos and Bruce McLean. He decorated the chapel of the Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, in Ponta Delgada. In July 2000, he opened Galeria Fonseca Macedo - Arte Contemporânea with his solo exhibition "Os Primeiros Frutos". In fact, until 2012, he held 40 solo exhibitions, the first of which was in 1983 at the Carlos Machado Museum in Ponta Delgada. He has taken part in more than 70 group exhibitions of paintings and engravings at home and abroad, including taking part in the "ArtemLagoa" exhibition, a group exhibition of Azorean artists organized by the Lagoa City Council at the inauguration of the Carlos César House of Culture. He is represented in several public and private collections in Portugal and abroad, and has also published several books on his work.
