Sculptor and sound artist Méryll Ampe presents Abyssos live, a new creation written especially for the opening of the Twin Islands exhibition at vaga, in which he transposes his interest in the idea of the contours of an island and the abyss that surrounds and contains it into sound.
Through sound materials (field recordings and oscillators) modulated and modeled in real-time, in situ, Méryll Ampe proposes that we collectively traverse and feel the depths of an almost unknown world. Her interpretation of the abyss is based on the environment and cartography of the Azores islands and the notion of distance and slowness. The live set will be reproduced on a quadraphonic sound system for an immersive experience.
