Image Stratigraphy with Tanya Busse+info
Tanya Busse
05 mar ➔ 15h00
Tanya Busse discusses her artistic practice and recent work in conjunction with her exhibition Secretary of the Invisible.

In her videos, photographs, and works on paper, Busse investigates how images are formed and how they shape human perception, in relation to time and space. A central preoccupation of her work is the attempt to make visible material that which at first does not appear to be so. Images are never neutral, but rather are loaded with stratified layers of politics, history, and aesthetic conventions of the time and place of their production. Most of her recent work is set in the high North of Norway where she resides, and explores how arctic ecology coexists with unveiled globalisation, the mineral extractive industry, and militarised and post-military spaces.
Escola vaga
Independent program of artistic studies that presents a curriculum articulated with the programmatic contents of vaga, through seminars that introduce new references around the great themes of contemporary art, and small workshops that focus on creation processes, conceptualization and artistic production. The goal is to generate new skills and knowledge among the school and artistic community living in the Azores.
