Movie session “Unsurfed Afghanistan" com Afridun Amu+info
19 set / 19H30
Afridun Amu (Kabul, 1987) was the first Afghan athlete to represent Afghanistan internationally in surfing, and one of the people responsible for founding the Afghanistan Waveriders Association. In 2018, he organized a trip to his homeland in search of river waves, to prove that it was possible to surf in a country that is far from the ocean.
The trip was documented, and resulted in the making of "Unsurfed Afghanistan," a documentary that is now shown at vaga, followed by a conversation with Amu.

Filmed on 3 continents, it is a documentary that follows Afridun's journey back to his home country where, with the help of river surfers, he sets out to find surfable waves and bring joy to people. The group struggles with challenges throughout their 10-day journey, but the inspiring mission uncovers a long-lost mystical side (of a country struggling with conflict), through breathtaking landscapes and the desire to discover something new.
