In her artistic practice, Margarida Fragueiro questions and imagines the interaction between symbols, beings and contexts, attentive to the creation and inherent subjectivity of micro and macro perceptions.

Pending Fluctuations is a project born from the symbiotic relationship between buoys and barnacles. It proposes a reflection on the object and the imaginary of the buoy, as a prop that can help and enhance the overcoming of limits, both for humans and for species such as barnacles. In Fragueiro's investigation, the buoy is assumed not only as a floating entity that exists in different formats, materials and functions in natural and artificial aquatic environments, but also as debris and garbage found on the coastlines. Fruit of the paradox between production, environmental and social damage, Pending Fluctuations materializes between the real and the unusual, when imagining a space where buoys collected from the coasts of the islands of Faial, Terceira and São Miguel* and the district of Porto, can be reanimated or reformulated, claiming new or old features. Here, the buoy goes beyond its status as a neglected object, and actions to clean the coastlines are promoted, in the awareness that this is not a real solution.
