Luísa Salvador's work relates to the passage of time and the concept of Time as a matter that transcends the human and historical coordinates. Time as a landscape builder is where her investigation is based, in an interdisciplinary artistic practice that translates into drawing, installation and written production.

Similarity by contact addresses the geology of São Miguel’s island, in the Azores, reflecting on the concept of this insular geological time, a time that is pre and post-historical. In this project, the artist explores volcanic fossils that come from conditions inherent to the igneous pulsation. The few examples that exist are of botanical species which inform us of the flora existing on the islands long before the Settlement. These fossils have the appearance of agglomerated and time-hardened ash, and that is exactly what they are. They were incandescent ashes that were embedded in the veins of leaves and trunks of millenary trees and which, in the process of substitution, kept residual information. For this project, Luísa Salvador collected hundreds of leaves of botanical species in Terra Nostra Park. In a reverse gesture, she marks these leaves on ceramic material which after being fired and glazed, return to the landscape in the form of small sculptures. It is intended that these species’ records, existent on the island today, will come to be discovered in a more or less near future.
